Fossil Power

IGS's solutions help keep the world's largest fossil fuel-fired power plants online and running at maximum availability with surface protection and restoration solutions that address problems of erosion and corrosion. With over 30 years experience serving large pulverized coal-fired, stoker, oil-fired, and circulating fluidized bed plants, we have dealt with virtually every metal wastage problem.

In coal-fired plants, we typically address problems in areas that are experiencing metal wastage due to elevated-temperature erosion and/or corrosion. Our knowledgeable project managers are unique in their understanding of corrosion and erosion mechanisms and surface protection solutions. Petrochem & Refining

The Company has developed unique materials and processes for some of the world's leading oil and gas companies, delivering results well beyond market expectations. Most importantly for these and other accounts, IGS maintains a stringent safety program that meets the lofty standards of such customers as Chevron, Sasol, Eneos, and Total. Among the typical problems addressed with our Metalspray™ and Weld Overlay solutions include:

  • Hydrogen sulfide (H2S) corrosion, hydrogen induced cracking (HIC), and blistering in amine contactors, regenerators, and flash drums
  • Naphthenic acid, H2S, and hydrochloric acid (HCl) corrosion in atmospheric and vacuum crude distillation units and their overhead condensing systems
  • Metal dusting and carburization in gas reforming

Pulp & Paper

IGS provides solutions to address operators' problems within many of the critical boilers and pressure vessels used in the pulp and paper manufacturing process. The Company's Mechanical Services group performs general repair and component replacement at these facilities and restores process equipment to high levels of reliable performance, in accordance with ASME Section I. IGS also provides corrosion and erosion resistant alloys to protect mission critical equipment at pulp and paper mills using proven Metalspray™ or Automated Weld Overlay processes.
